This session will provide practical information from the ASHRAE Epidemic Task Force Building Readiness Guide to help attendees understand how to analyze and create a Building Readiness Plan to assist in the re-occupancy of existing buildings. The panel will discuss how your HVAC system might be designed to respond to an infectious virus, like SARS-CoV-2, in addition to alterations to incorporate mitigation strategies. Attend the session to learn how to: (1) evaluate a building’s HVAC system(s) ability to mitigate the transmission of an infectious aerosol; (2) understand the components of an effective Building Readiness Plan; (3) explain HVAC system characteristics beneficial to mitigating the spread of a virus; (4) understand how this may affect future HVAC design criteria.
